ClarisWorks (クラリスワークス) is a CD-ROM-based office suite that had been promoted in Japan for the Pippin platform.[1]
Development history[]
The suite began as BS Works by former Claris engineers Bob Hearn and Scott Holdaway at Spartacus Software. The program was sold to Claris in July 1990 and renamed ClarisWorks; version 1.0 was released in October 1991.[2]
ClarisWorks was returned to parent company Apple Computer and renamed AppleWorks after Claris was restructured into FileMaker, Inc. to focus on its remaining flagship product.[2] AppleWorks was declared "end of life" in August 2007 and has since been replaced by Apple's iWork package.[3]
Release status[]
ClarisWorks was promoted with a Pippin Power Player prototype at Macworld Expo Tokyo '95,[1] but does not appear to have been released for that platform.[4][5]
Another suite, TV Works, was developed by Sonoran Blue and bundled with Pippin Atmark and @WORLD consoles that were released by Bandai Digital Entertainment in 1996.[6]
